The Tale of the Blue Wonder

This story begins in 1989 with a small family of young hoodlums searching for some purpose in life. Our adventures started in a small, military minded suburban town on the central east coast of Florida, in search of other creative minded souls, unafraid to express beauty and spirit above the conservative drones of corporate America. At the time I was working some minimum wage fast food job, while studying full time for a degree in Medical assisting. One day in class I met this handsome young dancer with the loveliest little nostril piercing. He introduced me to a sect of society who proudly wore rainbow colored hair, various cartilage, tongue, and septum piercings. Pure fascination drew me to this groups’ way of expressing their innermost individuality. After graduation I worked for a family practitioner as his back office assistant. Through this experience I learned veni-puncture, administered various injections and learned much about wound care and cross-contamination.

That handsome dancer then asked me to do his nipple piercing for him. Once I agreed, we got some jewelry and equipment and it was on. Performing that piercing was the most miraculous experience in my life to that point and I knew I had to chase that feeling. I researched as information as was available at the time. Modern Primitives and the periodical PFIQ became my bible. I went to town piercing The Family, learning purely by trial and error. In 1995 I left the medical industry and went to work for Leather Tiger in downtown Orlando. Due to a fateful change in location that studio soon closed and I took a job at Venus & Mars. This opened the doors of opportunity to work in Atlanta, GA. There I worked for a wonderful woman who supported my dreams of becoming the best piercer I could be. She helped fund my trip to the Fakir intensives in San Francisco. After spending time with Fakir I realized I had joined a society of artists, spiritualists, and extremists spawned from many generations all over the globe. Leaving Urban Tribe in 1997, I joined the team of Psycho Tattoo #2 in Sandy Springs. After two years and my new exposure to the Association of Professional Piercers it was decided I chase my lifelong dreams of moving to the west coast. In L.A., I was introduced to Georg from High Priestess Piercing who invited me up to Eugene to a guest spot. That guest spot lasted six years. Through these years I was encouraged to refine my skills, sharpen my senses and allowed explore the deepest regions of the body modification lifestyle. Here I was accepted into tight nit family of piercers, friends, and colleagues hungry for knowledge and understanding, striving to further improve our craft.

But the city was calling me, literally. One fine full moon I got the call from Desta and Bonnie informing me that I was to move to Portland immediately to join The Family of Adorn. Three days later I did. So here I am, anxious and ready to share all I’ve learned over these years. With the hope that body piercing will change and improve your life as it has mine. And so the story continues…
